Lil Nas X will be awarded the Hal David Starlight Award which is recognised for its gifted young songwriters who are making signification differences which impact the music industry. The ceremony will commence in June and it’s safe to say that there is no one more deserving than 23 year old Lil Nas X (real name being Montero Lamar Hill). It seems as though this award has been noticed after the incredible numbers that his music has produced over his recent early years within the music industry.
With well over a billion streams on a number of his tracks, incredible guest stars joining for collaborations and his powerful movement as a gay black man in the rap industry, Lil Nas’ talent and message has been portrayed both impressively and elegantly.
Previous honourees of this award are those of Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, Drake, John Mayer and Alicia Keys, all who have made incredible impacts within the writing standards of the music industry with their moving, meaningful and deeply important work. We are so excited for Lil Nas to join this group of formative writers as both his work and his fans deserve it – congratulations!
