Hailing from metal loving Germany, The Pinpricks burst into our playlists with new gritty EP ‘Rituals’. This 3-track celebration of all things heavy and gritty has been spoken about by Germany’s biggest rock radio show, Rock Hard Magazine, and has been shown lots of love across Spotify’s editorial playlists, and this is before we get to witness the band’s first album!
Empowered by presenting space for the female presenting people in the industry lead vocalist and guitarist Ronja Kiminsky says “It’s still not so common to be the leader of the pack in a rock band as a woman”. “So little girls are always so fascinated when they see us perform live. I owe it to them to go on stage and kick as much ass as I can so they know they can do it too.”
This philosophy is translated into Kiminsky teaching guitar to the next generation of heavy fans. Lead single ‘Rainmaker’ embodies The Pinpricks inclusive ethos and spirit, inspired by Ronja’s appreciation for street performers growing up, the video showcasing those in street performance art, their importance to the arts that can be often overlooked. The background for the visuals set to the battering and infectiously fuelled single.
Engaging, dynamic and textured, the EP embraces punch and grit, delivered effortlessly by the three piece. Nil Degendhardt (bass) and Rico Kobarg (drums) make a trio sounding full look easy, crafting a soundscape of complex riffs, hooking you on the unapologetic percussion and grounded ferocious vocals.
Gracing the stages across Open Flair Festival, Stemweder Open Air, and Wilwarin Festival, and having played alongside Thundermother, Capsula and The Brew UK, The Pinpricks are no stranger to captivating audiences, landing the band on over 800 playlists worldwide (including Spotify’s Editorial Rock Rotation playlist), 11.5k monthly listener and have received praise by Powerplay Rock &, Metal Magazine, Ages of Rock Podcast and Hellfire Magazine.
