The art of storytelling is revived with folklore led five-piece power group Mitsune. The band takes Japanese folk music and intertwine elements of eastern blues, jazz, rock and cinematic genres, reminiscent of that you’d hear on old folk tales, to create an energised sound with depth. Consisting of members from across the globe including japan, Germany, Australia and Greece, the band has made its’ home in vibrant Berlin. Mitsune take and blend their diversity, creating complex and exciting compositions, blurring the lines between genres.
Rhythmic, fluid, and sharp are not exclusive, with instrumental talented oozing throughout the upcoming album Hazma, due to be released on February 18th 2022. No stranger to captivating audiences, Mitsune has supported Hiatus Kaiyote, taken the stage at multiple festivals, concerts and events across Europe.
Translating to ‘in between’ in Japanese, Hazama is an ethereal listen. Creating the feeling of being caught between worlds, the use of haunting vocals and clever use of harmonics weave across tracks to bind a cohesive album. Tsugaru Shamisen ( a three-stringed Japanese folk instrument), shinobue, ney, ganun and koto all feature. Planning to release singles on the lead up to the albums release, prepare to be amazed at the diversity, intrigue and individuality of each piece, and the stories told.
