Scotland’s Senti has recently released his debut single He She It. By day, he is a junior doctor training to save lives, but by night, he morphs into a Latin pop artist who is intent on breaking hearts with his breathy vocals and distinct likeness to Spanish mid-2000s heartthrob Enrique Iglesias.
Before He She It became a fully-formed song, it was a romantic love letter to someone who would become his songwriting muse. Evolving into a passionate affair of infatuation and devotion, the track is accompanied by an array of classical guitars, bass, drumbeats, synthetic beats, and affectionate lyrics. Senti’s appreciation of Latin and flamenco-style music and culture is what sets the scene for a truly romantic song – you can hear the desire in his voice as he feels every word.
Senti describes the sentiment of the track, saying: “the song is essentially a stand against toxic mentality in contemporary love and to say that other people’s opinions don’t matter. All that matters is that you’re happy together.” If that doesn’t sound like a modern-day Romeo, then what does?
Sitting side-by-side with the Latin-inspired production and heartfelt vocals is Senti’s native Scottish culture. In his music video, he showcases the spectacular dancing skills of Aberdeen dance troupe, The Valkyries. It begins with him sitting alone in a dark booth, handsomely dressed in a tuxedo, yet looking lost and alone until he notices his love standing elegantly next to him at the cocktail bar. As the storyline plays out, Senti and the mysterious woman begin dancing together in front of the troupe. But instead of joining in with the rest, they become lost in each other’s eyes, unaware of the world around them.
It’s clear that Senti is someone who appreciates the world and its many cultures. With such a broad fusion of influences and inspirations, there’s no doubt Senti will be drawing fans in from far and wide.
