California based singer – songwriter Lola Kristine has teased two indie songs off of her highly anticipated upcoming album “CHAPTERS”. Although not quite a household name yet, Lola has garnered recognition and praise off many legendary heroes of hers, including Mick Fleetwood and Steven Tyler, and their influence runs deep in these two brilliantly crafted singles.

Many of the motifs and production choices of “California Cowboy” make Kristine certainly one to watch for any fans of Taylor Swift’s more country rock facing work (although that is not to her detriment, she is certainly bringing her own flavor). Building from a sweet foundation of a song about falling in love too quickly, the instrumentation soon accelerates into a rocking anthem, with Kristine’s powerful vocal delivery taking center stage. The catchy song is a great showcase in Lola’s versatility.

The other single “You and Me” demonstrates her variety even further; this time the canvas takes the form of a more R&B focused groove, starting out with silky, neo – soul kick and side stick. The subject matter tackles love once again, but leaves aside the drama and fireworks of the previous track and instead opts for easy going and addictive soul.

On the unrelenting subject of love that flows through this mini EP, Lola had this to say:

“Falling in love can be a pretty addicting feeling. I know I have been blinded by it many times. I’d find myself getting swept up in the idea of someone, rather than the person that is actually in front of me

Both of these singles are off Lola’s upcoming release CHAPTERS, which will be her debut full-length album, a project which she will primarily be producing and writing herself. The album will dedicate itself to the theme of love, exploring all it’s facets by breaking up into five chapters (this one presumably being the first). It will explore love’s ups and downs, taking the listener on a journey through youthful crushes to divorce, the overarching message being that “true love will set us free”.
