Experimental metal rocker Heart Through Sacrifice allows audiences to enter the dark fantasy world of their debut self-titled album and lead single Pride Retaken.
Part of an artistic project, the Heart Through Sacrifice album boasts an accompanying graphic novel, reminiscent of the traditional album package. The 22-track album is headed by the piercing vocals of Corinne Cooper, packed full on energy and driven instrumentals brooding with infectious riffs that cut through all frequencies.
“Nothing beats the feeling of listening to one album on repeat for weeks on end – the culture of obsession and ‘living the band’. Heart Through Sacrifice is my love letter to those days with a meaty world to get into and some killer tunes too.”
Heart Through Sacrifice (real name Doug Rimington) channels rich stories of lore and fantasy into a world of escapism. With Japanese and British heritage, and raised in New Zealand, Rimington has travelled the globe settling in London. Despite the often-changing scenery, the one constant for the musician has been metal fantasy.
Mixed and mastered by Matt Bew of Whitehouse Studios based in reading with Kay Elizabeth (The Black Orchids). Previously performing in band Voodoo Diamond, Rimmington worked alongside the likes of Justin Hill (SikTh) and Scott Atkins (Cradle of Filth, Children of Bodom). Following a recent split from an indie project, he opened for English Canadian act All Saints ahead of their sold-out Koko show in Camden.
Classic themes of loss and redemption lace this metal soundtrack laid out bare throughout the equally classic graphic novel, set in the style of classic 90s superhero comics. Offering a space for fans to indulge and lose themselves in a world larger than themselves.
