Icarus Tell All Through Their Emotional Metal Single ‘Castaway At Best’

The single is out now

Heavy metal group Icarus are back with their new single ‘Castaway At Best’, crafting a song that is hard to find within the metal scene.

Based in Watford, the band has been gaining popularity since their first EP ‘Undivided Attention’ released back in 2020.

Strongly influenced by mental illness and substance abuse struggles, ‘Castaway at Best’ delves deep into being isolated in society. Yet, the song reflects the attitude of being comfortable with whoever you are, regardless of what others may think about you.

Icarus brings something fun and entertaining to the heavy rock/metal genre by throwing out the same old concepts and tropes. However, the band remain stylistically true to heavy metal and hard rock, with muffled drums, haunting guitar riffs and good old snarling vocals, courtesy of lead vocalist Ritchie Howlett.

It’s a song even listeners not prone to heavy rock would enjoying banging their head’s too.

A relatively young and new band, Icarus believe the most important thing is putting their fans first and producing and performing the best music they possibly can.

“Our band’s average age is 19, we’re much younger than most of the bands on the scene and we’ve already accomplished more than most bands we’ve played with. The main modern metal tropes bore us, and we have such a wide range of musical influences that find their way into our songs. We’re a breath of fresh air for the genres.”
