After an unfortunate injury ruined his chances at an Olympic career, Michale Cooke was left on a journey of rediscovery. Luckily he found comfort and a career in music. He now returns with a new album entitled ‘Midnight Call’, his soothing tones gracing our eardrums once more. The lead single ‘Around Here’ is a brilliant and relaxing blend of acoustic and indie vibes. The flowing and catchy melodies paired with an energetic acoustic guitar leave you feeling buoyant. Michael’s vocals are incredibly comforting, overcoming the sometimes melancholic lyrics.
In his journey to becoming a singer-songwriter, Michael claims he learnt a lot about himself:
‘So many people let life pass them by and get caught up in group identity because they are scared of knowing themselves. I think once you start down the road of knowing yourself there’s no going back and let’s be honest, it’s pretty terrifying; you see a lot of things about yourself you don’t like and it’s very hard to ignore’.
But Michael is no stranger to experimenting with different mediums and fields; he is currently involved in a major TV series that is to be released later this year. He’s also dabbled in the world of Netflix and TV and films. We can expect a diverse and brilliant body of work from Michale in the future. In the meantime, stream the new album ‘Midnight Call’ now!
